The Mediminds Internship 2025 continued to offer valuable, hands-on exposure to the field of healthcare through its well-planned activities on Days 4 to 6. With each day presenting a different aspect of public health, hospital administration, and medical sciences, the students participating in the internship got a deeper understanding of the healthcare ecosystem in India.
Location: Meena Devi Jindal Hospital and Research Institute, Civil Lines
Day 4 of the internship was focused on community outreach. Students reported to the Meena Devi Jindal Hospital and Research Institute in Civil Lines for a special health camp organized either at GTB Road or at a refugee location, depending on the needs of the day. The day began with an orientation session conducted by a representative from Doctors For You (DFY), who explained the significance of the health camp and the responsibilities students would take on.
The primary goal of the day was to mobilize patients for the health camp. Interns were actively involved in engaging the local population, helping them understand the importance of regular health check-ups and disease prevention. They also worked on community sensitization by spreading awareness about basic hygiene, maternal health, vaccinations, and common diseases.
The real-world exposure allowed students to interact with people from underserved communities and understand their healthcare challenges. Many students described this day as eye-opening, realizing how much work goes into ensuring that healthcare reaches every corner of society.

The next day, interns assembled at the DFY office in Vasant Kunj and headed towards Primus Superspeciality Hospital for a day packed with learning. The day kicked off with an orientation by the DFY team to brief students about the hospital’s infrastructure and specialties.
Students were then taken on department tours across the hospital. They had the chance to observe how different units such as emergency, radiology, ICU, and general wards operate. This helped them understand how large hospitals function and how various departments collaborate for patient care.
A special highlight of the day was a detailed orientation session by the Head of the Pathology Department. The HoD explained how pathology plays a vital role in diagnosis and treatment planning. Students learned about the processes involved in sample testing, lab technologies, and patient reporting.
Later in the day, students attended an interactive session on Microbiology and Biotechnology led by Dr. Rajat, an expert in the field. This session offered deep insights into how microbiology is used to detect infections, antibiotic resistance, and hospital-acquired infections. Dr. Rajat also discussed how biotechnology is paving the way for innovation in healthcare, from vaccine development to genetic testing.
The students were enthusiastic and actively participated in the discussion, asking questions and exploring the relevance of science in real-life healthcare settings.

Day 6 was a reflective and inspiring conclusion to the week. Interns again gathered at the DFY office, where they began the day with an orientation session that walked them through the 16-year journey of Doctors For You. The presentation highlighted DFY’s achievements, from disaster response to long-term healthcare programs across India and beyond.
One of the most awaited parts of the day was a 15-minute session by Dr. Rajat Jain, the Head of the Organisation. Dr. Jain shared personal experiences, challenges faced while setting up DFY, and the impact the organization has made over the years. His talk was both motivational and informative, offering students a behind-the-scenes look at how healthcare NGOs operate and evolve.
The day concluded with career talks, where students received guidance on different medical and healthcare career paths. Topics included public health, clinical research, hospital management, biotechnology, and community medicine. The session aimed to help students understand the diversity in the field of healthcare and how they can align their interests and strengths with the right career path.
Days 4 to 6 of the Mediminds Internship 2025 gave students a balanced exposure to both fieldwork and institutional healthcare settings. From mobilizing communities to attending high-level hospital sessions, and from hearing expert insights to reflecting on the journey of a leading NGO, students came away with a well-rounded perspective of the healthcare sector. These experiences are sure to play a key role in shaping their academic and career choices in the future.
